Bolongaro Trevor joy…

Bolongaro Trevor

When I heard that Bolongaro Trevor was going to open a shop in Carnaby street, I was very happy. After all, their shop on Shoreditch High St is just badly located, surrounded by just bars loaded with drunkens – obviously not the type of people who would appreciate the fantastic designs. At least now they are only steps away from other cool fellow boutiques – Concrete, Hurwundeki, Beyond the Valley, etc.

Finally today I made my way to visit the store, and tbh, I expected the inside to be something more. It is Kait and Stuart’s second child after all (first one was All Saints if you haven’t got to know). But then again I guess they were just in a hurry to open the store before Christmas hence no time for interior decoration. And as long as the clothes are there, then why would I care?

And I completely forgot about the interior the moment I started digging in, and after five minutes, found my new favourite jumper.

P.S: Update on Purple Invasion sale

I decided to keep it going on this whole week , check previous post for details.

the PURPLE INVASION SALE…

After all the sales I’ve been to lately, all of the sudden it occurred  to me that I actually have enough stuff to organize a sale myself. And I’m doing it, right now.

So this is it, the first ever PURPLE INVASION SALE

expect:
– denims from Energy, Lee, Reiss, G-Star and FCUK (size W30-32, L32-34)
– shoes from Fred Perry, Paul Smith, Dsquared, Swear, Adidas, Converse and more (size 6-8 UK)
– various tops: from designers to Topman, some exotic stuff from Korea and Vietnam (all sizes)
– big jackets: jackets that could actually keep you warm and still look nice at the same time
– bags, scarves and belts

Something like this, roughly. Although I don’t have any dress, my wardrobe is pretty much unisex. There are so many more stuff I can’t be bothered to photograph them. This is just to give you an idea.

My rather heavenly bargain at the Angels sale…

Cheesy I know, using the word heavenly, but it’s been almost two days and I admittedly still feel rather happy about what I came back with from the Angels sale, so yah.

Funny how, like I had mentioned in the previous post, people were literally pushing each other, and during the first half hour that made us very reluctant to dig in to find some stuff to buy, though having bought the bag we kinda felt like we at least should come out with something. But for me, somehow, all the pushing and shoving later on had turned into some kind of motivation, and pushed me harder toward the boxes, and so I digged in. And these are what I digged out of that.

(note: I bought a £20 bag, so I think I was pretty good at packing, really)

What made me really happy about these stuff is that, I don’t need to do any alteration or fixing at all. There were a lot of amazing stuff at the sale but needed something done to make them work, but being a guy I would be too lazy to make the effort. So this bag of bargained-already-made-and-ready-to-wear is just simply perfect.

And even until now I’m still unable to work out how I managed to fit all these stuff (plus half a bag full of scarves) into A bag of £20. My newly found credit crunch nature I guess! 🙂

Hopefully during next week I will have another few shoots of what my friends (whom I totally lost at the sale) got. Some of them are natural vintage queens or clothes hunters so I have high expectation.

That’s all for now. I’m off. Have a lovely new week, nx

Go to hell for Angels sale…

never ending queue...
never ending queue...

So that day finally came, the day what rumoured to be the biggest sale of the decade happened – the Angels sale (http://www.angels.uk.com/sale.html). Me and a few friends of mine were struggling to wake up at 6 on a Saturday morning to travel all the way to North Wembley for it – we of course cannot miss out on such an experience. It was fun to see how all of the sudden the overground train got so busy on a Saturday morning at very early time, almost everybody on the train were heading to the same place. We got there at probably a quarter to eight and people were running from the station to the place to get ahead in the queue. Very funny.

Turned out it was not funny at all. The queue was already massive, and there were stories of people showing up from 3 in the afternoon the day before with sleeping bags and chairs to be the first ones to enter the “sacred house”.

head of the queue - people waiting to enter

However, the massive queue outside and the freezing weather was nothing comparing to the scene inside. It was total madness. Think food fight in a Nazi camp and you should get pretty much of the picture. Too bad I couldn’t bring the camera inside but I think you could see some photos on the site above.

There were three rooms: the 60’s-70’s-80’s and theatre costumes, the uniforms and the 20’s-30’s-40’s. The last one is the fanciest, although a lot of the cool stuff are in pretty bad conditions. The uniforms are totally cool with massive army boots and coats. But people were pushing too much and the clothes were absolutely filthy which just made us sneezing all the time so we were so reluctant to dig in, although I can’t deny that I’m happy with what I came out with. Will show them off in a later post.

people needed to sit down for air and a rest after coming out

The sun was lovely and I was hoping to get some cool street style stuff at the place, but people were dressing to fight – they understand what they were getting themselves into, definitely not another fashion show. Although I believe not all of them got it very clear though.

these people came only half an hour after us and they were told they might have to wait another 4 hours until they could get in, madness

But they were still pretty close to the head of the queue. There were people queuing miles away and I don’t know if they actually got in before the sale closed.

and by the time they get in, I doubt if there was still any buyable stuff left for them
and by the time they get in, I doubt if there was still any buyable stuff left for them

But like I said, the experience itself was something worth knowing. And for people who came out with enough clothes to fill up two wardrobes – all for the price of a nice coat – it was definitely worthit to go through hell to get to The Clothes Heaven.

Madness.

Enjoy your weekend, nx

coolest Asian couple…

Right. It’s something so official we actually don’t say it outloud anymore, but I’m saying it again today: East Asian people are the best dressers.

Who could argue with that, really? Japanese are the craziest and most creative, Korean are the most elegant, and Chinese are usually the most colourful. Vietnamese, well, they are trying. Anyway, don’t even try to argue otherwise. By the way, click on Style Arena on my blogroll to have a sneak-peek at Japanese street style – very cool site.

Anyway, back to the Asians. Yesterday I met this couple, who I think could put all other Asians to shame. Check them out

On the left is Taegun, 26, from Korea, a fashion designer. I love his chunky knitwear and it’s by Stella McCartney. His dark grey sweater and bag are by Vivien Westwood. T-shirt and boots are from All Saints. And dark chocolate leather pants are by Michiko Koshino.

On the right is Conni, 24, from Taiwan, a graphic designer. Her zip-up black dress is by the up-and-coming Alexander Wang, jacket is from See by Chloe. Shoes are from B store and hat is vintage from Camden. I love her bag (although you can’t really see behind the Liberty bag) is by Pauric Sweeney.

Taegun is working on his own brand Yohan Kim. So watch out.

Final note: I admire anybody who could still make an effort to look good in this weather, it’s driving me crazy and all I wanna do is to wrap myself up in my duvet 😦

nx,

note: the people in the photos asked me to delete their photos, due to personal problems, and although it kills me to do that, I have no choice but do that. but i can’t delete this post because of the comments, i have to keep them :”)

so, sorry for not really seeing something really cool here. it was really cool. you’re just late :”)
